Albert Ellis, the creator of REBT, he describes nearly twenty very specific self-help methods for controlling your anxiety.
Ellis points out that it’s not events that affect how we feel but our reactions to those events. Ellis’ insight here is that when your reaction creates anxiety, it is because you are holding irrational beliefs. Uncovering these irrational beliefs and replacing them with rational ones is a key to becoming less disturbed.
Each method is presented documents a real life situation involving one of his patients. The last three chapters offer many “Rational Maxims” supporting was what presented earlier.
